Accessibility standards are defined in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C.- 794d). These standards require Federal agencies, including the Postal Service, to ensure that members of the public with disabilities have comparable access to Government information whenever an agency develops, procures, maintains or uses electronic or information technology as people without disabilities. Similarly, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) afford the same protection to consumers and employees in the commercial and private sector.

While Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act require that Federal Agencies and companies provide an means for people with disabilities to access information, these laws also provide exceptions. Federal Agencies and companies may not be able to comply fully with the accessibility standards due to commercially non availability or undue burden. TCS Associates is experienced in identifying and providing solutions that will accommodate people with disabilities and insure that your website, electronic forms, software or other electronic and information technology product is available to this market.

Training

At TCS, in order to implement a successful accessible solutions strategy, we believe that proper training is key. Our staff of industry experts has an in-depth knowledge of Section 504/508 requirements and a clear understanding of the needs of people with disabilities.


Training can be done 1:1 at the client site, TCS locations, remotely, and/or in a group setting. TCS had an on-site training and demo lab.

Assessments & Evaluations

Accessibility includes all areas of an organization’s infrastructure. TCS will conduct a comprehensive assessment & evaluation for your employee(s) and/or organization. During this we will review all hardware, software and operating systems, websites and applications, telecommunications systems, video and multimedia equipment, and office equipment, as necessary. With the information from the assessment & evaluation, your organization will know where its weaknesses/barriers are and have a detailed report outlining recommendations in order to create accessibility goals.

 

Section 508 Consulting & Remediation

TCS uses proven testing methodologies that ensure compliance to technical standards of Section 508. Our testers are IT accessibility engineers who are also assistive technology users.

 

CRM Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology not only benefits the workers within an organization, but can be used to capture the sometimes significant percentage of consumers with disabilities that reside in the market area (estimated to be 20% of the total population of the U.S.). These technologies will allow your public serving departments to effortlessly serve the disabled community — particularly those with hearing and vision impairments.
