About Us

TCS was incorporated in the state of Maryland in 1982. Myrna Aiello, President and CEO, and Phil Aiello, CTO, of TCS Associates are both Deaf and continue to be deeply involved in activities for the disabled community. With over 27 years of successful business practices, we have the ability to meet current and potential client needs by utilizing our full range of products and services.

TCS Associates is part of Abacus-N-Bytes, Inc., a rapidly growing total solution company committed to the highest level of standards of excellence and service. We are a team dedicated to providing first class Services that involve Assistive Technology (AT), Communication Solutions and Speech Recognition Solutions for individuals and organizations. TCS believes that information and technology should be fully accessible to all people and that equal Communication can help people excel within their organization and/or personal lives.

We strive to educate manufacturers, organizations, and the general public on the importance of creating and maintaining accessible Electronic and Information Technology (E&IT) i.e. software and documentation that can be read and used by anyone.   When E&IT fails to be accessible, we believe that information flow and work processes are impeded which can affect an organization’s bottom line.  TCS provides the solutions that individuals and organizations need to remediate their accessibility issues.

TCS Associates, a Deaf-Woman-Owned Company, has become the nation’s leader in providing accessibility and workflow automation solutions for individuals and entire organizations. TCS specializes in Assistive Technology, Communication Solutions, and Speech Recognition. Being a Deaf-Woman-Owned business, TCS is uniquely positioned to meet the challenges that are associated with developing and providing accessible solutions within organizations because we are composed of the very individuals who utilize and provide the same services. As such, we possess the inherent capability of realistically evaluating and developing accessible solutions from the perspective of the target audience – people with disabilities.

The TCS Story

Myrna AielloMyrna Aiello became deaf when she was three years old, as the result of contracting German Measles. Being deaf made studying extremely difficult for Myrna and she spent numerous extra hours working instead of playing with her friends. Back then, there were no special services provided and she had to rely on lip-reading alone. There were no resources or assistive technology available for that generation.

Thanks to her father’s motivation and business values, she started Technical Computer Services (TCS Associates) in 1982. At that time TCS was focused on providing products & services in the computer industry.   TCS Associates covered every aspect of information technology from technical consulting to systems development and integration. TCS then expanded its services to include Assistive Technologies for persons who are blind, persons with low vision, persons with mobility impairment, and persons with cognitive disabilities.  In 2000, TCS Associates expanded with a new division focusing on Communication Solutions for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals thus becoming a total accessibility solutions provider for people with disabilities. Our “one-stop shop” for AT aligns with sections 504/508 and the ADA’s needs for workplace accessibility for all disabled people. Today, our services cover the full spectrum of disabilities and include persons who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind.  While branching out into Assistive Technology, TCS maintained its core expertise and services in IT.  Our Speech Recognition services department assists individuals with or without disabilities to utilize Dragon NaturallySpeaking software.  This software dramatically cuts the time and expense of entering large amounts of text into a computer quickly and accurately.

Being involved in an industry that offers a wide variety of accessible solutions for people with disabilities, Myrna Aiello, CEO, knows firsthand how rapidly the future continues to rush into this arena. She is a consumer of some of the very services that TCS Associates provides to its’ clients. She has made it her ardent commitment to keep TCS at the cutting edge of these new technologies and to spread their availability.  TCS Associates employs workers with and without disabilities, because to us, every worker is an individual with unique attributes. We feel strongly that all of our employees, those with and without disabilities, bring a special diversity to our workplace. That distinctive diversity is encouraged in our company and we hope that this model spreads through the public and private sectors.
